Race 3 in the Nordic Cup was held in Saltsjöbaden, Sweden this weekend. 30 sailors from four countries competed in two days in conditions varying from heavy rain to sunny shifty breezes.

Many of the sailors started to gather at SSSK's lovley club house on Älgön friday evening. After some nice hours together, everybody went to sleep, wanting to be race ready Saturday morning.  Saturday came with a lot of rain and a lot of wind. The gusts were at the top of no. two rigs ( the weather was so bad I didn't want to take out my camera, so I have no pictures from day one). The sailors sailed in two heats.

Sunday the wind was light and shifty. The sun came out, and it all became really wonderful. The sailing was exiting and challenging. It was a really close race between Anders, Torvald and Søren, and only a few points were the dividing the three sailors.

The shifting conditions sent many sailors up and down between A and B fleet, and no one knew who had won this race until the very last recalculation. In the very end Torvald managed to get the edge on his two rivals, and Torvald Klem took the number one place in Stockholm. Congratulations!

Some points from the race:
As far as I could see, this was an event with very nice sailing, few protests, and quite clean sailing.
A few people did not take their penalty before told to, but considering the event were held without judges, one can't complain on the competitors behavior much. Fredrik did a tremendous job running the whole regatta by himself, but some helpers on the situations on the water would have smoothened the hole thing a bit.  Socially this year in Stockholm was very very nice.  Our IOM sailing friends in Sweden makes this sailing weekend somthing to look forward to in the years to come.  Thank you everybody that made this event for us (nice food and nice company).

You had to keep on the right tack as the wind shifted 30 degrees back and forth

Tight and clean starts even if Fredrik black flagged the B-fleet a couple of times...
